Insurance

When booking with Unique Adventure International, it is a condition for all clients to be insured for comprehensive expenses that may be incurred due to medical issues or accidents. This includes coverage for air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs. Please note that we do not arrange or sell insurance as such a system is not allowed in Nepal.

Traveling Responsibly

Health and Safety

We strongly recommend being physically and mentally prepared for your journey. This includes a proper understanding of high-altitude health hazards, the concept of acclimatization, recognizing your physical level, and knowing when to make a decision for yourself. The Himalaya is a lofty geography that rises dramatically above the plains. Walking for 5–7 hours every day requires a good deal of preparation. The better you are prepared, the higher the chance of success and, thus, a higher-quality experience. Similarly, personal food and diet preferences, allergy causatives, and personal medication are also to be considered and communicated well to your guide or crew.

Day 01 Drive from Kathmandu (1130 m / 4364 ft) to Sundarijal (1460 m / 4790 ft) and trek to Chisapani (2215 m / 7267 ft)

The trek begins with a one-hour drive to Sundarijal, the starting point at the foot of Kathmandu Valley. From there, we hike 4-5 hours to Chisapani via Shivapuri National Park. After ascending a ridge (1895 meters) and passing Mulkhara, a Tamang village with tea shops, we continue along the ridge through an oak and rhododendron forest, reaching Chisapani by trek's end. (Spring brings colorful rhododendrons!)

Day 02 Chisapani (2215 m / 7267 ft) to Kutumsang (2470 m / 8250 ft)

The next day starts with a pre-dawn wake-up to witness sunrise over the Himalayas from Chisapani. After breakfast, a 5-6 hour trek to Kutumsang follows. This route offers views of Langtang mountains, passing meadows, farms, and charming villages like Pathi Bhanjyang. We reach Kutumsang for the night after a final climb and descent.

Day 03 Kutumsang (2470 m / 8250 ft) to Tharepati (3690 m / 11,635 ft)

After breakfast, we’ll trek north through rhododendron and fir forests for stunning mountain views. This steeper section with no permanent settlements leads to Yurin Danda for more panoramic views. Finally, we reach Magen Goth lodges (meadow with mountain views) before arriving at Tharepati.

Day 04 Tharepati (3690 m / 11,635 ft) to Tarke Gyang (2600 m / 9115 ft)

This day's trek ventures 5 hours east, off the ridge, to Melamchi village. Immerse yourself in Sherpa culture distinct from Solu Khumbu, exploring Buddhist stupas, shrines, and monasteries linked to Guru Rinpoche. Ascend to Tarke Ghyang (or Helambu), a village known for its ancient monastery, one of the region's largest. Enjoy panoramic Himalayan views throughout the trek. Helambu refers to the wider area with both Tamang and Sherpa villages of this region. We will rest at Tarke Gyang for the day and are almost at the end of our trek journey.

Day 05 Tarke Gyang (2600 m / 9115 ft) to Sermanthang (2590 m / 8715 ft) and drive back to Kathmandu (1130 m / 4364 ft)

The pleasant trek from Tarke Ghyang follows streams and waterfalls through forests, with glimpses of charming villages like Gangyul. We then reach Sermanthang, a scenic village with Buddhist monasteries. From there, our private vehicle shall carry us back to Kathmandu via Melamchi Bazaar, enjoying mountain views and villages along the Melamchi River.

One paramount issue for trekking companies in Nepal are employees directly connected to guests when trekking in the Himalayas and this is key to any trip conducted anywhere on the Himalayas. Our staffs in general receive fixed monthly salaries and our trekking crews get special rates as defined by the Ministry of Labour in consultation with the Ministry of Tourism - Government of Nepal.

This also includes the provision of Social Security for mountain workers as per government directives. In addition to this, we also provide climbing training to new comers listed on our payroll. All our seasoned guides are well trained in the use and application of First Aid in the event of any unexpected injuries that may occur in the course of the journey when at altitude.
