Milke Danda Trek

An outstanding trekking route that lies amid the the great peaks Kanchenjunga and Makalu is popularly know as Milke Danda trek. This is long and high forest ridge that divides the Arun and Tamur valley in the eastern Nepal. This trek offers you the composite package of varieties of culture, traditions, vegetation, geography and uninhabited ridge with fine mountain views of four of the world’s five highest peaks.

The trek starts from Basantapur or Tumlingtar for about 7 – 14 Day up this ridge. Milke Danda ridge eventually ends in some high peaks, so we have to retrace our route back down Chainpur and ending the trek at Tumlingtar or Basantapur. There are huge forests of rhododendrons along the ridge.  Enroute you will experience the excellent panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu(8463m) and Kanchenjunga(8586m world’s third highest peak) to the east. In addition, Tibetan life style, Yaks and cheese are other attractions of the area. Specially Milke Danda is popular for various kinds of flowers including the Nepal’s national flower-- rhododendrons.

February to April and October to November are the best time for trekking and you have no option of camping style of trek whenever you choose. In the spring (end of February-April) the whole forest is jeweled with the varieties of blooming rhododendron.
