| Manaslu Trek |
Pristine mountain views, rich culture and genuine adventure sum
up the trek experience around the 8156m high Mt. Manaslu. Opened
in 1992, this area offers a combination of rich cultural
heritage, unsurpassed beauty and biological diversity. Beginning
in Gorkha, home of the celebrated Gorkha soldiers, visit the
ancient palace of king Prithivi Narayan Shah. Soon after,
civilization fades and we glimpse ancient villages, observing
the simple agricultural habit of its people. [PHOTO GALLERY]
From here, begin your ascent through the Gandaki River valley,
fed by innumerable rivers and water falls and plunge into its
refreshing pools. From here the strenuous section begins and
yaks begin to outnumber people in a rocky landscape in Sama Gaon,
visit the glacier green lake of Birendra, before crossing into
mystic Samdo, a mere 15 km. from the tibetan border. Here
Tibetan monks inhabit sacred monasteries. There the view of the
tibetan plateau against stark white Himalayas make this a truly
spiritual place. Continuing, more monasteries await you in
Larkya Bazzar a long biggest challenge – crossing Larkya pass.
This 5213meters snow – covered pass demands the utmost respect.
Snow – covered peaks over 6500m. tower above as we cross. The
descent, once off the snow takes us through alpine, then
tropical areas, bursting with ferns, bamboo, pine trees, water
falls and aqua – blue green lakes laced with cotton – white
beaches. Finally, the Manaslu will disappear behind you as you
descend to Besisahar(832m). This three week’s excursion will
leave you with a sense peace and respect for the people of Nepal
and its ecological wonders. |
