Overview

Thapa Peak is situated in the Dhaulagiri region and in the northern part of Dhampus Pass which can be accessed through the Hidden Valley. Beginning from Beni and then passing through the Marshyangdi Khola to Darbang takes us via forest into the high country. Most of the way is over the glaciers and snow crossing French Col (5240m.), Hidden Valley and after that the Dhampus Pass.

Thapa Peak is an exciting peak for mountaineers in the North-east of the gigantic Dhaulagiri range. It is a trouble-free trekking peak to climb which lets you witness the stunning Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan ranges a very open spot to view the vista from. Dhaulagiri (8167m.) and Tukuche Peak (6920m.) visible amazingly near us will be the unforgettable experience. Itinerary Details

Day 01 : Meeting upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, transfers to hotel.

Soon after your arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, we meet our Nepali representatives who will clarify us about the tour. After the short description by our representatives, we are sent to our Hotels where we will be staying overnight.

 

Day 02 : Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley, overnight at hotel.

Today you travel around Kathmandu valley which comprises visit around historical and saintly attractions; including Durbar Square, Boudhanath; one of the major stupas in Nepal, Swayambhunath; top on the hill in the city knows as the Monkey Temple, Pashupatinath; Hindus holy place. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03 : Fly to Pokhara and drive to Beni

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will reach to Pokhara taking a domestic flight from Kathmandu which takes half an hour. You will later be taken to your hotel and with a relaxing afternoon. You can even visit around lakeside region or you can go for boating at famous Fewa Lake. Then you will drive to Beni. We will be staying overnight in the hotel.

Day 04 : Trek to Babiyachour.

Our trek starts and we will trek along the Kali Gandaki River. We will then, move toward Myagdi khola, go across few suspension bridges. And then, pass through the villages of Mangalghat, Tatopani, Singa and ultimately reach Babichaur. We will approximately walk for 6 hours today.

Day 05 : Trek to Dharapani.

The trail today moves all along the Myagdi River passing through a number of villages ahead of reaching Darbang where we halt for lunch. After we traverse the suspension bridge and shortly we start the climb to reach at Dharapani. This village has inhabitants chiefly Gurung and Chettri and allows us to witness the first sight of Dhaulagiri to the north. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 06 : Trek to Mudi

From Dharapani we will walk all the way through Takum and Sibang, these are affluent villages with several terraced pastures mainly cultivating rice and wheat. Today we get ahead of classic Nepal scenery with typical villages and peak views. There are fine views of Puta Hiunchuli and Gurja Himal to the west. After going across Dhara Khola on a suspension bridge we keep on trekking to Muri. Overnight in Muri.

Day 07 : Trek to Boghara

From Muri we move down abruptly to the bridge crossing above the Muri Khola. We then pass through dense bamboo trail and also pass fields and farmhouses. Additionally to the north, the vale steepens and the track is out in the open places. We will camp here for overnight.

Day 08 : Trek to Dolang

Today, from Boghara the track follows the west bank of Myagdi River via an undulating trail in woods. High above the trail, we will see large bee's hives where villagers gather honey. We halt for lunch at Lipshe (2,080m.) then we continue trekking in forest till we get to the forest at Dobang with numerous teahouses and camping site. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 09 : Trek to Pine Forest

The trail moves all along through lush vegetation of bamboo, ferns and rhododendrons. We come across to the east shoreof the Myagdi Khola on a bridge and then set camp at Sallaghari. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 10 : Trek to Italian Base Camp (3200m.)

From Sallaghari we march all the way through pine, rhododendron, birch, juniper and azaleas trees. The trail goes across through woods and then ascends to a grassy region on the side moraine where Italian Base Camp is situated. High over camp is the extraordinary west face of Dhaulagiri in the midst of Tsaurabong Peak noticeable on the other side of the valley. Overnight at the tented camp.

Day 11 : Acclimatization at Italian Base Camp

Today we have a rest day at Italian Base Camp and here we can explore around. This day is important for acclimatization before climbing further in elevation towards main Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 12 : Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4700m.)

We go behind an uneven track along the moraine enclosed glacier to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. From Base Camp the sight is striking with Dhaulagiri I, Little Eiger, Tukuche Peak and further to the west you can seeDhaulagiri II (7,751m.), IV (7,618m.) and more. Overnight at tented camp.

Day 13 : Trek to Hidden Valley (4900m.) .

Today we will walk out of the Base Camp all along the moraine to cross the left side of the Upper Chonbarden glacier. An elevated lateral moraine edge is noticeable further up the valley. At a big cairn on the lateral moraine edge we turn to make another climb to French pass. The view from the peak of the pass is outstanding with Sita Chuchura, Mukut Himal, Tukuche Peak , Tashi Kang and of course Dhaulagiri I. The drop from pass is on temperate snow slopes as we go in the Hidden Valley. We stay overnight at Hidden Valley today.

Day 14 : Acclimatization day at Hidden Valley

We today have another acclimatization day at Hidden Valley. There is only thin vegetation of of moss and grass as this region is now in an area affected by the rain caused by Dhaulagiri. Overnight at Hidden valley again.

Day 15 : Trek to Yak Kharka (3000m.)

Today we start our way up to a temperate snow slope to get to Dhampus pass. There are very well views of Dhampus Peak and to the right side the stunning ice flutings of Tukuche Mountain will be visible. From the peak of the pass the track come down the pass for about 100m ahead of traversing left into Kali Gandaki valley. There is a very long walk on snow typically taking about 4 hours before beginning the steep drop to Yak Kharka.

Day 16 : Trek to Thapa Peak Base camp

All the way while travelling from Yak Kharka, there are eye-catching views of Nilgiri and the west end of the Annapurna Massif. Overnight at camp in Thapa Peak Base Camp.

Day 17 : Acclimatization

We will today rest at Thapa Peak Base Camp. This is another acclimatization day and you can make essential preparation for Thapa peak apex. Overnight at Thapa Peak Base Camp.

Day 18 : Trek to High Camp of peak

Day 19 : Trek to the summit of Thapa peak (6012m.) and back to Base camp

Early in the morning, we will begin climbing to the summit of Thapa peak and can be arrive at the top of the peak and witness the views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges.

Day 20 : Base camp - Yak Kharka

Today we return back to the Base Camp and then continue trekking to Yak Kharka. Overnight in Yak Kharka.

Day 21 : Trek to Tukuche (2800m.)

Today we will trek to Tukuche. Arriving at Tukuche, you will witness the beautiful scenery of mountains like Nilgiri, entire Annapurna Range, Marpha Village, Jomsom and Syang. Overnight at Tukuche.

Day 22 : Trek to Ghasa (2120m)

Day 23 : Trek to Tatopani (1220m.)

We will walk from Ghasa to Tatopani. On a small downhill, as you move down around 800 m for about 4 hours. Tatopani is also popular for its hot springs. We can enjoy taking bath here. Overnight at Tatopani.

Day 24 : Trek to Ghorepani

Today, we will walk from Tatopani to reach Ghorepani, one of the renowned spot of Annapurna region situated at an altitude of 2856 meters. Our hike simply moves up to Banthanti ( which is 2250 m above the sea level) going across oak and rhododendron forest. We keep on trekking until we reach to our ultimate destination Ghorepani through Nangethanti (2460m.). Later we will be staying overnight in a hotel after trekking for almost 5 hours.

Day 25 : Trek to Pokhara

We will today trek to Pokhara early in the morning to witness the beautiful sunrise view from Sarangkot, some major spots like Patale Chhango (Davis fall), Mahendra Cave, Chamero (Bat) Cave, KI Singh Pool and other places as per your choice will be explored today. And stay overnight at hotel.

Day 26 : Fly back to Kathmandu, overnight at hotel.

Leaving behind the magnificent countryside early in the morning, we return back to Kathmandu. We can either take a vehicle for a drive or fly back from the beautiful city Pokhara. On arrival at Kathmandu you will be shifted to the hotel. You can then relax for rest of the day and stay overnight at hotel.

Day 27 : Leisure day in Kathmandu, overnight at hotel.

Today you have a leisure day in Kathmandu. There will be possibilities of flight cancel or delay by the weather so we require keeping one extra day. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 28 : Transfer to airport, departure onward destination.

Today, our airport representative will help you to reach airport for your way back to your country.
