Overview

Ombigaichen Peak (6340m.), one of theinfrequently climbed peaks is located in the eastern Himalayas and Mahalangur range in Nepal. It was only since 2002 the peak was opened for climbing. Also, Ombigaichen is an arresting mountain situated 2.3km south-east of Ama Dablam on the extended ridge that joins Ama Dablam with Baruntse. The Ombigaichen Peak rewards you with the views of Himalayan peaks like Mt. Everest (8850), Lhotse (9501m.), Nuptse (7879m.), Makalu (8475m.), Ama Dablam (6856m.), Baruntse (7720m.) and more.

The trip to Ombigaichen peak climbing begins after a pleasant flight to Lukla from Kathmndu and from there the track leads gradually up to Dudh Kosi River. We go across a suspension bridge and ascend up slowly towards a large hill to get to Namche Bazaar then continue to Ama Dablam base camp. We, then finally we arrive at the summit of Ombigaichen base camp.

Itinerary Details

Day 01 : Meeting upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, transfer to hotel

On your arrival, you will be welcomed by our representative of Unique Adventure at Kathmandu International Airport but reassure about our representative with a display board at the arrival gate. You will be then taken to the hotel where you can either relax in the afternoon or hang around. You will have a dinner in a traditional Nepalese restaurant where we take pleasure in a Nepalese cultural program as well. We will be staying in a hotel for overnight.

 

Day 02 : Stay in Kathmandu for official procedures and preparation

After having breakfast in the morning, our sightseeing trip will begin. The Swayambhunath (the Monkey temple), Pashupatinath temple, Boudhanath; Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square are the main sightseeing attractions in Kathmandu valley which are rich in art and architecture. Later in the afternoon, we will have a final preparations and short briefing for the trek. We will stay overnight in a hotel.

Day 03 : Flight to Lukla and immediately trek to Phakding

From Kathmandu, you will take a pleasing flight to Lukla (2827m.). And this 40 minutes flight will offer a chance to have a close view of huge mountains adjoining to Nepal and China. We, today begin our hike descending to the Dudh Kosi River and walk on the major track to Namche Bazaar, located just above Chaunrikharka (2713m.). The track is trouble-free and following the way of small village of Ghat(2550m.) we have a little walk to Phakding. Overnight at guest house in Phakding

Day 04 : Trek to Namche Bazar

Today we set off from Phakding and walk further on a small way up to Jorsale we get in front of a waterfall. Now, the trails villages are united with superb forest of giant firs, rhododendron and magnolia trees. Then, we walk to Namche crossing few bridges and climb a few hundred meters, a perpendicular drop and one steeper climb all the way through the forest. Overnight at guest house in Namchebazaar.

Day 05 : Namche Bazar for acclimatization

We have a rest day in Namche Bazar today for becoming familiarized to the altitude. Namche is a prosperous village situated in a large protected hollow. From here you can observe the amazing panorama of the Khumbu peaks and most importantly see Mount Everest. Or, you can also go for a trivial walk towards Thami (3810m.) over the attention-grabbing Bhote Khola River Valley. Overnight at guest house in Namche Bazaar.

Day 06 : Trek to Tengboche Monastery (3860meter)

After having our breakfast, we get on the track and move down to the river, Dudh Koshi. We keep on ascending through Rhododendron and Conifer forests up to Tengboche. The Tengboche Monastery is located on a ridge at an elevation of (3860m.) and is bounded by mountains like- Kangtenga, Thamserku and Ama Dablam. We trek for 3-4 hours today. Overnight in Tengboche.

Day 07 : Trek to Mt. Ama Dablam Base Camp

On this day, we leave Tengboche and move down to the forest area of rhododendron and pass a long Mani wall made of stone to go into the village of Deboche. Move on to reach Minlinggo and then depart from the mountain path to traverse a suspension bridge to the bank of the Imja River. While ascending up, we will be mesmerized by the views of Ama Dablam and Kantega (6779m.). Keep on going up the chorten-lined way, come to a junction. Here, the upper path moves through Pangboche and a monastery, we can take the lower trail to Pangboche Olin. Then, ass through the village and descend to Imja Khola and go across the river and climb up all the way to reach at Amadablam Base Camp. Here, we have a steep and windy path but the scenes are terrific. Tonight we set camp at Ama Dablam Base Camp.

Day 08 : Trek to Mt. Ombigaichan Base Camp (5200meter)

On this day we set off from Ama Dablam Base Camp and then trek to Ombigaichen Base Camp which lies at an elevation of 5200m. After reaching at the base camp of Ombigaichan we will set our tent for overnight.

Day 09-14 : Climbing Period Mt. Ombigaichan

Day 15 : Cleaning Base Camp

Day 16 : Trek to Tengboche Monastery

We then today retrace back to Tengboche monastery from the base camp of Ombigaichen peak. We will stay overnight in Tengboche monastery.

Day 17 : Trek to Namche Bazar

We today leave Tengboche and descend down all the way through rhododendron and conifer forest and beautiful natural scenery. Overnight at guest house in Namche Bazaar.

Day 18 : Trek to Lukla

From Phakding, we today follow the Dudh Koshi and arrive at Lukla. We take around 6 hours to trek today. Stay at Trekkers Lodge.

Day 19 : Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

We wake up early in the morning to take the flight for returning back to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu we are transferred back to our hotel. Overnight in Kathmandu at the hotel.

Day 20 : Leisure day in Kathmandu

Today, you have rest day for relax or you can also go for shopping in Kathmandu or you can do anything you like to by yourself. Overnight at hotel.

Day 21 : Transfer to airport, departure onward destination

Our airport representative will shift you to the airport from the hotel for your way back to home country.
