Pokhalde Trekking Peak (5806m)

Pokalde Peak, also known as Dolma Ri, is a trekking peak in Nepal Himalaya at 12 km southwest of Mount Everest. It is one of the shortest and easiest trekking peak in the Everest Region.

Pokalde is rocky and scarcely snow covered during the trekking season. The peak looks like a crenulated rocky ridge, is a best view point and dominated by the huge bulk of Nuptse. The peak has small glacier which is best reached along the ridge rising from the Kongma La on its northern side. Climbing the peak, one does not require any great technical skills. So, it is popular commercial trekking peak among trekkers wishing to climb a Himalayan peak without the use of normal expedition equipments like ice axes and crampons. While elevating around 5800 m you will enjoy Himalayan panorama in all directions particularly the prominent mountains Ama Dablam and Pumori.

An alpinist or a physically fit and acclimatized trekker or a group can easily climb Pokalde Peak in a half a day. But Unique Adventure International strictly suggests not making any attempt in poor weather condition as its sections are quite exposed.

The first ascent to the Pokhalde peak was in 1953 via Kongma La along its north ridge by John Hunt and his Everest Expedition Team.
